Isha Iyer, OTR/L
Hi, I’m Isha :) (pronounced ee-sha) I’m a pediatric occupational therapist with five years of experience across private schools, public schools, outpatient pediatric clinics, and private in-home therapy. I previously worked in New York City and Nashville before moving to Los Angeles.
I earned my Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and my Bachelor’s in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I have my NBCOT certification in pediatrics and I am receiving training in Quickshifts and Astronaut Protocol, which uses the sound and vestibular senses to improve bilateral integration (coordinating the right and left sides of the body), attention, and sensory/emotional regulation.
I believe that helping a child’s nervous and sensory system be more regulated—which improves their ability to be resilient in the face of challenges—is the foundation to build more specific higher-level skills. Beyond that, I love to incorporate therapy within play activities that kids enjoy, to help them feel intrinsically motivated to try their best. Therapy works best when it feels like fun for the child (and this is evidence-based!)
When I’m not working with children and families, you’ll likely find me crocheting, searching for perfect matcha, or spending time with my husband & two cats, Lumi and Cosmo.
